Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:The Electrical Technician position is a full-time, 12-month, benefitted position responsible for the overall inspection, maintenance, installation and repair of electrical equipment and circuits; examples include but are not limited to repair of parts and/or complete electrical and communications distribution systems including power and lighting circuits, feeders, panel-boards, fire alarms, uninterrupted power supplies, variable frequency drives and primary distribution systems for LCCC. This position ensures a productive working and learning environment for students, faculty and staff by providing excellent customer service, professional appearance, timely work and expert communication skills. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: respond to service requests; provides installation, maintenance and repairs to systems to include building electrical devices, wiring, low and medium limited voltage distribution systems; assists in the maintenance and repair of commercial heating and air conditioning equipment, kitchen equipment and or including building automation system, and other college equipment as needed. Must be able to operate, Building Automation System (BAS) along with install and repair various electrical, electronic and pneumatic control systems components. Evaluate & Inspect facility and site conditions to report required repairs and preventative maintenance actions. This position also contacts, supervises, and monitors completion of contracted/warrantied work for repairs, assessment, and improvements. This job supports overall department projects, assists in other functional areas, and provides risk management mitigation to all aspects of the job while following and supporting safety procedures, and actively monitoring workplace/jobsite safety. Respond to request for service calls/work orders and make repairs as necessaryInspect and test systems/parts/equipment/fixtures to verify compliance with plans, operational status, and specifications or to detect need for repair/replacementCommunicate with College end users regarding structure/equipment malfunctions to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected malfunctionsPerform scheduled preventive maintenance for the College's electrical needsPerform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections for assigned areas of responsibilityInstall, operate, maintain, and repair indoor/outdoor fixtures, equipment, and electrical systemsStudy blueprints, design specifications, or manufacturers' recommendations to verify the configuration and to ensure the proper installation of componentsAssemble, position, and mount electrical components and parts following blueprints or manufacturer's Facilitate installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs including, but not limited to repairs to systems to include building electrical devices, wiring, low and medium limited voltage distribution systems; assists in the maintenance and repair of commercial heating and air conditioning equipment, kitchen equipment and or including building automation system, and other college equipment as neededContact, coordinate, supervise, and quality control of work done by service vendors, warranty repairs, and contracted installationElectrical and site maintenance support such as support contractor installations, new construction and overall project supportPrep jobsites including masking, relocating equipment, and protecting surfaces from work performed (i.e. dust, demolition, and installation)Install, maintain, and repair variable frequency drive systemsInstallation, maintenance and repair of emergency power standby systems to include uninterrupted power systems and generatorsPlan, layout, and installation of class II wiring systems.Maintain, repair, and install kitchen equipment (i.e. stacker steamer, grills, ovens, ice makers, etc.)Order and maintain inventory/schedule for parts, services, equipment and toolsSafely drive vehicles, and operate large complex maintenance equipmentDepartment Support Functions:
Provide excellent customer service by displaying a professional image to include neat appearance, proper hygiene and appropriate attireParticipate in all duties as a professional team member, provide security and confidentiality of personnel information and equipmentProvide excellent customer service by utilizing professional and effective language, communication and timely follow-throughResponds to emergency duties after hours when requiredComply with all applicable Department and College standards, policies, or procedures, such as safety procedures or the maintenance of a clean work areaAttend all mandatory department, work group, and college trainings/meetingsFollows OSHA and college safety practices, regulations, and proceduresPerform snow removal and supervision/coordination of part-time employees as requiredProvide support and assistance to other department functional areas as neededAdministrative Functions:
Utilize electronic devices (computers or tablets) for completion and documentation of work orders and preventative maintenanceOrganize and maintain warehouse materials, equipment, inventories, and documentationManage, reconcile, and complete necessary documentation for budgets, monthly purchase orders, and purchase card receiptsCoordinate and communicate with other college departments regarding necessary forms, documentation, or completion of processes as related to this positionOther tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need Nonessential Functions:An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis.
Perform related duties as delegated by supervisionWork with security and necessary departments during emergency situations, such as threats, gas leaks, inclement weather, etc.Keep informed of changing requirements and new techniques via professional development activitiesAs required attend college, division, and program trainings/meetings. Associate degree from an accredited institution in a related field of study or five years of experience in general electrical maintenance of commercial facilitiesTwo years of experience to include general electrical installation, repair, and commercial maintenanceMust have a valid driver's license and be able to meet the college insurance carrier requirementsPreferred:
