Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 200 firm recognized for
its innovative legal strategies, powerful policy insight, and
strong business acumen. With 14 offices nationwide , more than 300
attorneys and policy professionals , and a 50-year history of
excellence, this firm continues to lead at the forefront of legal,
legislative, and business change. The firm’s Intellectual Property
practice is seeking a Patent Attorney with 2–6 years of experience
to join its Denver office . This position offers the opportunity to
work alongside a team of attorneys who combine technical expertise
with business strategy to protect and expand clients’ intellectual
property assets. Key Responsibilities Draft and prosecute patent
applications before the USPTO. Advise clients on IP strategy,
portfolio management, and enforcement . Conduct patentability,
freedom-to-operate, and invalidity analyses . Collaborate with
internal and external stakeholders to develop creative IP solutions
. Engage with clients in consumer electronics, software, AI,
machine learning, and data systems industries. Qualifications 2–6
years of patent law experience, ideally in private practice. Degree
in Electrical Engineering, Software, or Computer Science required.
Admission to the USPTO (or eligibility to sit for the Patent Bar).
Prior non-legal technical experience with consumer electronics,
software, web services, AI, or data systems preferred. Excellent
academic credentials , strong writing, analytical, and
communication skills , and the ability to work effectively in a
collaborative team environment . Juris Doctor (JD) required.
Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $207,500 – $305,000 (depending
on experience). Bonus eligibility: Hours-based bonus structure.
