experience Description: Hiring Process involves a candidate
interview with the clinical team. No unit manager involvement is
included in the interview process. Candidates must be within a
60-mile radius. A valid driver's license must be submitted.
Clinicians need to be present in-state for orientation, even if the
first day modules are remote. The unit includes 22 labor and
delivery beds, 2 operating room suites for C-sections, 7 triage
beds, and 34 postpartum beds. The average number of births is
between 8-12 per day, totaling approximately 2900 annually. The
unit follows AWHONN guidelines for ratios as much as possible.
Common diagnoses include labor, cesarean sections, pre-eclampsia,
insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, and various antepartum
complications. RNs are required to titrate drips, including
oxytocin and magnesium sulfate. There is no charge nurse
assignment. Surgical techs are available in the unit. An
OB/neonatologist is not in-house 24/7, but APPs are available
around the clock. Anesthesia is also in-house 24/7. The unit does
not require respiratory therapy equipment such as vents, CPAP, or
BiPAP. RNs must read their own fetal monitor strips using a GE
Corometrics EFM system. Self-scheduling is allowed; however,
travelers will be expected to fill in as needed. Weekend and
holiday requirements apply. There is a call requirement of 18 hours
every six weeks. RNs must be able to float to postpartum as
required. Hospital-provided scrubs are the dress code for the unit.
Unit-specific orientation is provided for new hires. The hospital
can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting
