Responsible for providing care to patients during their stay at a
hospital. Their duties include managing schedules for inpatient
treatments and coordinating care providers, ordering tests and
maintaining medical records for their patients.
Essential Functions:
- Follow up on patient care, discuss patient care with nurses and
resolve any problems that may arise. (30%)
- Coordinate care between different doctors caring for a patient,
serve as point of contact for hospital staff and maintain
communication with the patient's family. (30%)
- Service on committees and work to help improve efficiency,
patient care and infection control while fostering teamwork and
improving communication between staff and physicians.
(30%)
- Serve as a working liaison between administration and
physicians. (10%)
Education:
- Doctorate Degree from an accredited medical school and
completed accredited residency program and fellowship for
specialist, or equivalent. Required
Work Experience:
Licenses:
- MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical
principles, procedures and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient
treatment.
- Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support
activities while providing quality medical care.
- Able to receive detailed information through oral
communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal
communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and
social skills.
- Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational,
socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value
systems.
- Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish
goals.
